Hey, long-time no-see!
You might have noticed that things have been a little quiet on our end, and that’s been for a variety of reasons…
COVID definitely threw a spanner in the works, and we struggled with trying to run a business and juggle family life in the middle of a pandemic. Jasmine (our co-owner) was trying to handle social media, local deliveries, customer inquiries, markets, and various other business tasks all while managing four kids doing homeschool work. COVID made us realise that we needed to ‘future-proof’ our business, and create a more sustainable business model to prevent us from being overworked or getting burnt out while we tried to manage everything. So we took a step back and re-evaluated everything. How could we streamline the enquiry process? How can we make deliveries faster? What practices can we put in place to make social media easier? We spent some time working ON the business (instead of in it) and figured out smarter ways to grow and improve Real Dog Food.
One of our best ideas was hiring our new business manager Dorren (or Dozz for short!). She’s been an absolute life saver, and launched herself straight into the nitty-gritty of our business. Dozz now handles most of the customer service side of things, but we promise you’ll still be getting the same level of care and attention before; if not more!
Although our business model may have changed a bit, we’ve still got the same classic products.
In case you haven’t been here in a while, we’ll quickly reintroduce Real Dog Food. We’re an all-natural kibble company, dedicated to bringing healthy and clean food to New Zealand dogs. As you probably know, the cost of living has gone up exponentially in the last few years. Rather than use lower-quality ingredients or cut corners with our packaging, we’ve decided to slightly raise our prices (for the first time in two years!) to accommodate the rising overheads. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
